Mary Moore won appointment to the Batavia Village Council at the Council's Monday, February 8, meeting.
She fills the unexpired term of Brian Vickers, who submitted his resignation on January 12.
Ms. Moore is a lifetime resident of Batavia and an owner of the Moore Family Funeral Homes, a family business in Batavia since 1820. It is one of the oldest funeral homes in America, and the family says it is the oldest single-family owned and operated funeral home in the nation. She is married to Scott Runck, and the couple have two daughters.
Ms. Moore is the daughter of the late Louis Moore, who was a member of the Batavia Village Council, the Batavia Board of Education, and the Batavia Township Board of Trustees.
Councilwoman Moore is one of four members of the panel whose seats expire Dec. 31, 2021, and will be up for election in November. The others are Kathleen Turner, Robert Handra, and Jason Gipson.
